Emergency Preparedness

Bio-terrorism preparation has become a priority for public health since September 11, 2001.  The Cambridge-Guernsey County Health Department is funded by the Ohio Department of Health to build Public Health Infrastructure.  The health department is part of a consortium of 21 health departments in the Southeastern Ohio region.  Regular planning meetings and regional exercises are ongoing and attended by the Public Health Emergency Preparedness coordinator.  Health department staff has been trained in Incident Command and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). The health department is part of the county disaster team and has a role in the county Emergency Operations Plan (EOP.)  A pandemic influenza and mass vaccination plan has been developed. Staff has also been trained in the use of the MARCS radio system.

Complete plan reviews were completed in 2013 by the board of health, staff members and the district advisory council members.  Annual reviews will continue; dates and times  and will be published in the paper and on the radio when the annexes are reviewed.

Complete copies of the plans are on file at the health department for public review and/or comment.
